Jay-Z headlined the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on Saturday Night (May 31). And his appearance lived up to its billing.
Jay-Z dropped off a new freestyle during his set, where he targeted several people who have taken issue with him over the past months. Of course, Hov’s new freestyle led to a bevy of reactions on social media. From both fans and media personalities. Among the people who reacted was Breakfast Club Host, Charlamagne the God.
Charlamagne Reacts to Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic Freestyle
In a recent social media post, Charlamagne said that getting dissed by the rap legend is already bad enough. But knowing that Beyoncé likely feels the same way is much worse.
“Getting dissed by Jay-Z is one thing. Realizing Beyoncé probably feels the same way? That’s devastating. Let’s Discuss,” he wrote in the post (Via FearedBuck/X)

Jay-Z shot at a lot of people during his freestyle. But the shot that caught everyone’s attention was the one he sent at Drake.
After Drake called him out on his new record Janice STFU, where he asserts “the jig is up.”
But Hov had an answer for the Toronto native in his new freestyle.
“The jig is up, n**** I’m up 10, wrong chart champ you gotta look up again, n****s looked up to Hov, I never looked up to them,” Jay-Z says.
Jay-Z also appears to reference Drake’s ongoing legal issues with his record label, Universal Music Group. And tells him to keep that same energy when addressing his label.
“Them crackers got your publishing checks, go talk tough to them, don’t talk success to me, you n****s is workers, in perpetuity is how your contract is worded.”
So far, Dame Dash is the only person to respond to the rap star. Everyone else, including Drake, is on the clock.
