In February, the Department of Justice (DOJ) released another installment of the Epstein files under the Transparency Act. And of course, that meant more names were released of people who allegedly visited the Island that was a hotbed for assault for years.
Charlamagne Addresses Jay-Z, Pusha T, & Eminem
Among the names that appeared in the new batch of files were Pusha T, Jay-Z, and Eminem. The names of the three rap stars surfacing in the new batch of files quickly went viral on social media. Leading to heavy backlash. However, Charlamagne the God says that the public outcry from fans is rooted in their not doing their research.
“Don’t understand it, and I would love to get some understanding… I have one question. Just one question for the room: What do n****s hate more, reading or accountability?”he said during a recent Donkey of The Day segment. “I think reading. I don’t understand why y’all are so quick to want to tear our own down. Without doing just a little bit of research.”
Donkey of the Day goes to the journalists who didn’t do their research and ran with clickbait stories mentioning Pusha T, Jay-Z, and Eminem in connection to the recent release of Epstein files. Charlamagne also added that the backlash from the online docs is a result of hip-hop fans’ enfatuation with “tearing our own down.” He also noted that the transcripts in which Em, Pusha, and Jay are mentioned did not come from any official police documents or Epstein’s personal records. Rather, they were phone calls from an anonymous tip line.
“Mentions of these artists didn’t come from Epstein’s personal records. They didn’t come from reports reported by law enforcement. These stories came from a crisis intake report, a public hotline submission, and a tip that some random person called in from 2019,” Charlamagne added. “They aren’t backed by court findings, indictments, or confirmed evidence. If you actually read the stories, they just simply don’t make any sense. What the hell would Jay-Z be doing with Harvey Weinstein and Attorney General William Barr in 1996? That was the year his first album came out.”
At the time of writing, neither of the artists has addressed their names surfacing in the documents.
