Charles Barkley appears to have a legitimate explanation for his recent comments about rap star Cardi B.
Barkley recently appeared on the Dan Patrick Show. And Patrick grilled the NBA Hall of Famer over his comments about Cardi. That’s when Barkley revealed that he is trying to get fired from his job as co-host of ESPN’s Inside the NBA.
Barkley Says He is Trying to Get Fired After Cardi B Joke Goes Viral
“Dan, you know I’m hoping they fire me. I got 6 or 7 years left on my contract, which they know I’ve got no chance of doing. You know I would love for them to fire me and have to pay me for the next 6 or 7 years,” Barkley said. “I was talking to my agent. And I asked what I have to do so I can get fired, and they have to pay me for six or seven years.”

Barkley has been a host on Inside the NBA since 2021. The program had been on TNT for the majority of his tenure. But last season, the NBA made the decision to terminate its rights deal with Turner Sports, and thus the show was moved to ESPN.
He also says that there is “zero chance” that he stays at the network for the duration of his contract. And concluded the statement by saying that people need to learn how to “take a joke.”
“If they can’t, they can kiss my a**. If people don’t like me or don’t have a sense of humor, they can kiss my a**. My whole a** not just one cheek,” he concluded.
Cardi B was the halftime performer for the Knicks and Spurs matchup in Game 3. During ESPN’s Inside The NBA Halftime show, the camera cut to a portion of Cardi’s halftime performance. And all of her … assets were on full display. And Barkley couldn’t help but take notice. After Inside The NBA Host Ernie Johnson told the audience at home that Cardi B was performing, Chuck suggested a name change.
“I’m sure those aren’t Cardi B’s. Maybe Cardi D’s. She should change her name,” he said in a clip caught by BuckeyeBrain on X.
