The Knicks hosted their first NBA Finals game since 1999 on Monday Night (June 8). So, of course, the vibes were extremely high heading into Game 3 against the Spurs.
Barkley’s Comments About Cardi B Go Viral
To make sure the energy was where it needed to be, the Knicks tapped rap star Cardi B to perform at the halftime show, which was much to the delight of NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley.
During ESPN’s Inside The NBA Halftime show, the camera cut to a portion of Cardi’s halftime performance. And all of her … assets were on full display. And Barkley couldn’t help but take notice. After Inside The NBA Host Ernie Johnson told the audience at home that Cardi B was performing, Chuck suggested a name change.
“I’m sure those aren’t Cardi B’s. Maybe Cardi D’s. She should change her name,” he said in a clip caught by BuckeyeBrain on X.

Of course, Barkley’s comments went viral, which led to a lot of reactions from fans on social media.
“From Cardi B to Cardi D in one halftime show, Barkley never misses,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Barkley can be funny and honest without reducing people to crude jokes. This one landed flat and says more about him than it does about Cardi B,” a second user chimed in.
“Chuck is an absolute national treasure. Zero filter, zero regrets. Them ain’t B’s… straight Cardi D’s on live TV. One of one,” a third user remarked.
At the time of writing, Cardi has not responded to the comments made by Barkley.
