The Chicago Bulls have waived guard Jaden Ivey after he made anti-Pride comments during his Instagram Live.
Why Did The Bulls Cut Jaden Ivey?
In a press release, the Bulls claimed they released Ivey for “contract detrimental to the team.” The decision came hours after he went on Instagram Live and made anti-Pride statements and other controversial things.
“The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA, he said. “They show it to the world, they say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.'”
ESPN’s Shams Charnia broke the story, tweeting that Ivey was released after “recent anti-LGBTQ comments amid several rants on religion.”
In February, Ivey told reporters he was not the same person as he used to be. “The old J.I. is dead,” Ivey said. “I’m alive in Christ no matter what the basketball setting is.”

How was Ivey’s season?
Ivey appeared in just four games for Chicago before being shut down to rehab a left knee injury.
He went to the Bulls as part of a three team trade, where the Pistons acquired Kevin Huerter, Dario Šarić, and a future first-round pick swap.
Last year, the former Purdue Boilermaker averaged 17.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists before a knee injury ended his season.
