Mello Buckzz is facing new legal trouble after Chicago police allegedly found a stolen firearm and an open bottle of vodka inside her Mercedes SUV during a traffic stop on the city’s West Side.
The 25-year-old rapper, born Melanie Doyle, was arrested on June 15 and booked into Cook County Jail the following day. Prosecutors charged her with felony aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, along with misdemeanor counts related to resisting officers.
According to court records, police pulled over Doyle after noticing what appeared to be illegal windshield tint. Officers say they spotted suspected marijuana and an open bottle of Tito’s vodka inside the vehicle before recovering a loaded Glock from beneath the driver’s seat. Authorities also allege the gun had been reported stolen.
The arrest comes less than a year after a deadly mass shooting outside Mello Buckzz’s HollyHOOD The Mixtape release party in Chicago that left four people dead and 14 injured. No arrests have been announced in that case.
Doyle, who was already serving probation in a separate aggravated battery case, was ordered held in custody following her initial court appearance.
