Manchester police arrested Breezy early Thursday morning, May 15, at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Salford. They charged him with “grievous bodily harm” stemming from an incident at Tape Nightclub.
Prosecutors called the attack “unprovoked” and said it left Diaw with head trauma and torn ligaments. According to authorities, Brown hit Diaw with a bottle of tequila and continued to kick him while he was on the ground. Security intervened, and paramedics took Diaw to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors described his injuries as serious but not life-threatening.
On May 16, a judge at Manchester Magistrates Court denied Brown’s bail request and ordered him to remain in custody. The judge also transferred the case to Southwark Crown Court in London due to its severity. Brown is expected to enter his plea at that court on June 13—just five days after he was set to launch his Breezy Bowl XX World Tour.
Diaw is also suing Brown for $16 million, alleging assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit extends beyond Brown and names Live Nation, Sony Music, and RCA Records as co-defendants.
Diaw asserts Brown was solely responsible for the attack, but that venue operators failed to ensure a safe environment.
