Common Announces Forthcoming Book ‘AND THEN WE RISE’

One of Chicago’s Finest Emcees, Common, took to IG on Wednesday (Oct 19) to announce the release of his third book, AND THEN WE RISE.  The forthcoming book follows  Common’s 2011 memoir, One Day It’ll All Make Sense and 2019’s Let Love Have The Last Word.

The rapper, activist, and actor’s forthcoming book will cover health and wellness, two topics and themes the 51-year-old Common finds integral in daily life. He explained in his IG post the inspiration behind the book.

Exciting news, fam! I’ve got a new book coming in January 2024 called AND THEN WE RISE,” he wrote. “It’s all about health and wellness, inspired by the tough times we all experienced together a few years ago when everyone was thinking about staying healthy.

“I started sharing my journey on Instagram – working out and sharing healthy food recipes – and folks started asking for advice. So, I decided to put it all in a book to spread some good energy and love, especially in my communities.”

“This book covers it all: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. It’s got my journey, from diet changes to workouts and even therapy for my mind and soul. Remember, small changes can make a big difference. You don’t have to go from zero to a hundred. Find what works for you, fam, and you’ll be a better you.”

The intersections of mental, physical, and emotional health have been in the forefront of American culture for the past decade and reverberated during the pandemic. Common, like many in the Hip Hop community have embraced new outlooks to achieving and maintaining healthy lifestyles through exercise, food and spirituality.

2024 is shaping up to be a banner year for Mr. Lynn with AND THEN WE RISE dropping in January and the Rock The Bells Resort Festival with Busta Rhymes, Digable Planets, Wyclef and others in Cancun Mexico in April. Most recently he announced  on MSNBC a collaboration album with Pete Rock.
