Conway The Machine is back in the booth!
The Griselda rapper dropped off a freestyle to Drake’s new record “Make Them Pay.”
Conway Name-Drops Jay-Z on ‘Make Them Pay’ Freestyle
And on part of the record, he name-drops his rap cohort, Jay-Z.
“Dinner with HOV, he said, dawg give ya brother a piece. I saw it in his eyes right then, he doesn’t want me to eat,” he raps on the track.
Conway has previously praised Jay-Z for being the only person in the rap industry who “genuinely cared” about him.
“This is probably the one guy, only guy who I felt like genuinely cared about me and my well-being,” Conway said in a conversation with Eliot Wilson back in 2023. “He asks about how I’m doing, and family stuff, s**t like that. It’s just regular s**t. I kind of respect that and like that a little more.”
Elsewhere on the track, he talks about how a trip to Greece last summer really gave him an opportunity to reflect on his rap career. And the role that him being a part of Griselda played in it.
“I did a lot of reflecting when I spent last summer in Greece. Thinking, if I weren’t for Griselda, what would I be? Or what would Griselda be if it weren’t for me. I used to want the rap glory, but all I want is my peace.”

Conway, along with Benny The Butcher and Westside Gunn, make up the Grisela collective. But as of late, the rap trio has been zeroed in on their solo careers. As opposed to making music as a group. But Conway has previously asserted that even though they have prioritized their careers as solo artists for the time being, the group is still on good terms and has not broken up. It will be interesting to see what 2026 has in store for them.
