Cordae Opens Up About Split From Naomi Osaka On New Song “Helpless”

For awhile, it seemed like Cordae and tennis star Naomi Osaka were going to be a new age power couple. Then, Cordae’s music career took a down turn, and Osaka, while still high ranked, had issues with anxiety that disrupted her promising trajectory.

This all came as their relationship fell apart, leading to separation despite sharing their child, Shai.

Details of what ended the couple have been sparse, but on his new song with Anderson Paak “Helpless” Cordae provides some context.

“Was never my intention to raise my daughter in separate homes. Gavе your mom my all, but the love she had for mе dead and gone. Although you ain’t a man if you can’t admit it when you was wrong.”

Neither Cordae or Osaka have detailed exactly what caused the split, but in 2025, she gave her side of the story in a brief statement.

“No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad,” Osaka wrote on Instagram.

She also praised him as a father and didn’t accuse him of any wrongdoing.

Elsewhere on the track, Cordae reveals he has a second child on the way, but does not name the mother.
