A member of the popular Atlanta rap group Crime Mob is facing serious legal trouble following his alleged connection to a large-scale electronics theft operation.
Alphonce Smith, known professionally as Cyco Black, was arrested and charged with multiple misdemeanor and felony offenses, including theft by receiving stolen property. According to authorities, the case stems from a string of car break-ins across Atlanta, where victims reported laptops, cellphones, and tablets being stolen from their vehicles.
Investigators say some victims were able to track their stolen devices, which ultimately led police to a business located inside Metro Mart on Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta. Authorities allege that the store, owned by Smith, was being used to buy and sell stolen electronics. The investigation later expanded to a warehouse, where officials intercepted packages of stolen goods being shipped overseas, including to Hong Kong.
Police report that more than $100,000 worth of stolen electronics have been recovered so far. An employee connected to the business was also arrested and is facing similar charges. During a search of the Metro Mart location, officers say they uncovered additional stolen items, as well as marijuana.
The investigation, which involved multiple Atlanta police units, remains ongoing and has now drawn the attention of federal authorities. Officials also noted that similar theft rings have been identified across metro Atlanta and in other states.
In response, Smith’s attorney emphasized that her client has not been convicted of any crime and remains presumed innocent. She urged the public to withhold judgment, stating that the full facts of the case will be revealed in court as Smith works to clear his name.
