D4VD Arrested in Connection With Teen’s Murder
According to video footage obtained by the outlet, the 21-year-old singer was arrested by authorities at his Los Angeles residence on Tuesday (April 14). In a statement to the outlet, one rep from the Los Angeles Police Department said that the next step is to “review the facts” and see if there is enough “sufficient evidence” to officially charge D4VD.
“Our office is aware of the arrest of David Anthony Burke by the Los Angeles Police Department,” the source said to the outlet. “The case is expected to be presented to the Major Crimes Division. At which point prosecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to file charges. At this time, additional information is not available.”
They also said that they plan to provide an update on Monday (April 20). On whether or not a filing was made.
14-year-old Celeste Rivas’ body was found dismembered inside a Tesla registered to D4VD in September. The vehicle has been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and towed to an impound lot. After receiving several reports of a foul odor coming from the car, police discovered Rivas’ decomposing body.
However, D4VD’s attorneys, Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter, maintain that their client is innocent. And slammed the LAPD for arresting him without an indictment.
“Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” the singer’s attorneys said in an email to the Associated Press.
“There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
