Dave Chappelle’s latest standup special, Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable, debuted on Netflix on December 19. And one of the topics that ruled the evening was the downfall of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Dave Chappelle Recalls Diddy Saving His Life

Although most of the recent commentary surrounding Combs has been negative in light of his federal trial. However, Chappelle told a story that reflects the music mogul in a more positive light. The comedian recalled a time when he was attacked while he was at the Hollywood Bowl, where he claims that the Bad Boy Records founder saved his life.

“I was on stage not long ago in the States, and people got mad because I said maybe Puff will get off,” Chappelle said to the audience. “It’s not that I think Puff is right, but when I got attacked in L.A. at the Hollywood Bowl, people forget Puff was the guy who tackled my attacker. He saved my life.”

Despite the severity of the situation, Chappelle, of course, had to make light of it by throwing a baby oil joke into his set.

“I had security that night, but they just weren’t ready,” Chappelle joked. “They ran out, all of them slipped and fell. Puffy got my attacker and tackled him.”

Combs was arrested by the FBI in September 2024 on racketeering, sex trafficking, and prostitution charges. During their raid of his homes, investigators reported finding over 1000 bottles of baby oil and Astroglide. Chappelle quipped about wondering what it was that the people slipped on. Appearing to insinuate that they were slipping on baby oil.

Diddy was able to evade the more serious charges of trafficking and racketeering. However, he was convicted on prostitution charges and sentenced to 50 months in prison. He is scheduled to be released from FCI Fort Dix in June 2028.
