This past week, Cam’Ron told a story about Suge Knight pressing him over recreating the beat to “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” for his song “Live My Life.”
Cam says after releasing the song, Suge Knight approached him with enforcers saying Cam owed him money. Cam asked why, and Suge allegedly told him it was because he had used the 2Pac beat. “Ambitionz Az A Ridah,” to which Cam said he had original producer Dillinger recreate the beat for him. Knight then informed Cam that he owned the music, not Dillinger.
“Suge Knight was harassing m******** at Roc-A-Fella, so they didn’t give me my credit as a producer. They gave it to somebody else to finish up the music,” Dillinger said. “We laid all that down… I’m like, ‘Damn. What happened?'”
Since then though, it appears Dillinger has sorted the agreement out, saying he gets paid whenever the song plays or is used.
“If anybody in this world say, ‘I won’t deny it,’ or say, ‘Ambitions of a rider,’ anything, in their song, we get that,” Dillinger said. “That’s a sample clearance for me.” Dillinger gave examples of sampling by DeJ Loaf, The Game, Meek Mill, and Lil Wayne that’s helped his earnings.
Daz Dillinger just backed up Cam’ron’s wild story about Suge Knight confronting him over the recreated “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” beat used on Cam’s 2002 record “Live My Life”.
