Daz Dillinger is once again on the outside of Death Row Records—at least according to the West Coast legend himself. Pulling up for a candid conversation with Da Inphamus Amadeuz on The Punchline Academy, Daz opened up about the latest rift between him and his cousin, Snoop Dogg.
During the interview, Daz revealed that while Tha Dogg Pound—his duo with Kurupt—remains signed to Death Row under Snoop’s leadership, he personally has been removed from the label. “I’m independent as a solo artist,” he explained, noting that despite the business shake-ups, he and Kurupt still actively tour as Tha Dogg Pound.
According to Daz, the tension stems from a major disagreement over ownership. He claims Snoop left him off a recent show because he refused to sign over his catalog and publishing. For Daz, that line simply couldn’t be crossed. “I’d rather keep my catalog,” he said, stressing its long-term value and the importance of maintaining control over his legacy.
The situation adds another chapter to the long, complicated history between Daz, Snoop, and Death Row Records—an iconic brand now under family leadership but still navigating old-business versus new-business realities.
Whether the two cousins will mend fences again remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Daz Dillinger isn’t giving up ownership of his music for anyone, not even family.
