Streaming star DDG is not happy about the upcoming collaboration between luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet and Swatch.
The collaboration, called the Royal Pop, reimagines AP’s legendary Royal Oak design. And the collaboration with Swatch allows for a much more affordable price. It is expected to retail between $300-$600. A stark difference from the thousands of dollars the watch usually retails for.
DDG Says He is ‘Pissed’ About AP, Swatch Collaboration
During a recent stream, DDG expressed his disdain over the upcoming collaboration. And said that he is “pissed” because he spent thousands of dollars on the same model.
“Just seeing this makes me want to sell my AP. Like AP, Wassup man? What’s going on? I’ve spent like two hundred thousand on one of ya’ll watches. Ya’ll telling me I could have waited until 2026 and spent $300 and gotten the same effect. That s**t ain’t right, bro,” he said in a clip caught by ClippedSZN on X.
He also says that he may consider selling his AP if the more cost-friendly version gets “too hot.”
“It’s n****s out here that really paid retail. I’m pissed as a customer, I am pissed. Ya’ll gonna make a billion dollars off of this s**t, I get it,” he continued. “I can’t rock no AP like that no more, ore bruh, I gotta see. If this s**t goes up too much, if it gets too hot, I’m selling my s**t.”
Of course, DDG’s comments led to a lot of backlash on social media.
“Money can’t unlame n***as fr loll man acting like AP give Af he spending bands on the product,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I’m sure AP is holding an emergency meeting to figure out how to retain DDG’s business,” a second user added.
In response to the backlash, DDG says that his gripe is something that only true watch collectors can understand.
“Only n***as who collect watches understand my reasoning for frustration,” he said in response. “My AP watch is rare & discontinued, so I HAVE to pay resale. That’s like buying a Ferrari & they collab with Honda & make a Ferrari Civic for $30k but my bad for pissing y’all lil n***as off! get ya AP.”
