On May 13, TMZ reported that singer/actress Halle Bailey had served streaming star DDG with a restraining order. The Color Purple actress claims that she has been a victim of both physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her son’s father.

However, amid these explosive allegations, DDG’s mom, Tonya, took to social media to clarify the rumors.

“I don’t usually comment or say anything on this internet, even with all the negativity, the lies, and hatred towards mine. However, these accusations have made me realize that I’ve been quiet for too long,” she said in a statement posted to her Instagram story.

She also posted a meme of Kermit the Frog driving with the accompanying caption “Jesus take the wheel.”

The restraining order comes after several incidents between DDG and Halle after their breakup in 2024. One occurred when DDG came to Halle’s house to pick up their son, Halo.

DDG was securing their son into his car seat when Halle wanted to discuss a visitation schedule for him. DDG allegedly became enraged. And after seeing how mad he was, Halle tried to stop DDG from leaving Halo, fearful for his safety.

After Halle tried to stop him, he screamed “get out of my car b***h” and when she didn’t, she and DDG into a wrestling match.

During that altercation, DDG pulled his child’s mother’s hair, resulting in her slamming her head on the steering wheel and chipping her tooth. She also received several bruises on her arm as a result of the incident.

Things eventually cooled, but Halle still did not feel safe with DDG seeing Halo unsupervised. So she rode in the car with DDG to his home and confronted his family about the altercation.

The straw that broke the camel’s back came last Mother’s Day weekend. Halle, Halo, and her sister Chloe Bailey took a vacation for the weekend. However, social media accounts began to speculate that the actress was actually with R&B singer Brent Faiyaz.

DDG once again became angered and confronted Halle about it through text messages.

Halle replied, “Not with any man out here. I wouldn’t do that; I have Halo. Please let me enjoy my mother’s day in peace. I hope you are okay and feel better soon.”

Halle has also filed for full custody of their 18-month-old son, Halo. If granted, DDG would only be allowed to see Halo for 6 hours a week, supervised by a professional company.
