Delonte West has lived a trouble life post NBA career, but it now appears he’s turning it around. The former Cleveland Cavalier shared a video on social media, looking much healthier than previously.
How Is Delonte West Doing?
In the video, West is seen with a fuller face, chains on, sporting a white t-shirt and socializing with others. He then pans around his room to reveal some threads, a bed, and a tv setup bumping the YoungBloodZ’s “Damn,” with Lil Jon’s infamous refrain “Don’t start no shit, won’t be no shit.”
He then breaks off a lil shimmy, flashing a small stack of paper and an EBT card.
This comes after West was arrested last December in Fairfax County for assault and robbery of $23. He was released on a $1,000 bail. It appears since then, he’s been trying to get clean.
West has a long-documented struggle with mental health, getting diagnosed with Bi Polar disorder in 2008. Since then, West has had several instances where he’s been caught panhandling around Virginia and Texas, many times falling unconscious or seeming incoherent.
An especially scary incident happened in 2024 when West resisted arrest for violating the terms of his prison release. As the chase ended, West was found unresponsive by police officers after a brief chase, and was administered Narcan, then taken to a local hospital where he was revived.
Last month (March 29th) West celebrated 100 days of sobriety in a social media post.
“You see they got me right and tight,” West said. “You hear me? Yeah.”
