Diddy Claims He & Cassie Abused Each Other
One of the key components of this trial is Combs’ relationship with his ex-girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura. Ventura had previously claimed that she was a victim of his abuse during their 11-year relationship.
But according to Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, the abuse during their relationship was mutual.
“[The defense team]is going to take the position there was mutual violence in their relationship… hitting, on both sides: DV (domestic violence),” Agnifilo said in court per TMZ.
He also added: “We are absolutely going to admit to domestic violence. But at what point does it become coercive?”
Judge Arun Subramanian, who is overseeing the case, then asked if Agnifilo was insinuating that Combs and Ventura’s relationship was “outright violent,” to which the attorney responded, “Right. We’re saying it’s relevant.”
Cassie is a pertinent part of the case against Combs. You could even argue that she is the catalyst that ignited Diddy’s downfall.
In November 2023, Ventura brought a civil trial against Combs, alleging that the music mogul, abused and trafficked her throughout their relationship.
The ex-couple settled outside of court, but the accusations paled in comparison to the video evidence that backed Cassie’s claims. In May 2024, CNN released a video of the Bad Boy Founder assaulting his ex-girlfriend in 2016.
In the video, Cassie appears to be trying to escape from Diddy while he is taking a shower. Moments later, Combs emerges in a towel and proceeds to repeatedly punch and kick her before dragging her into the hotel room.
Diddy apologized for his actions upon the release of the video, but is now claiming that he suffered the same abuse.
