Despite it being nearly a month since the jury’s decision in the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, the court case continues to be a topic of interest.
Diddy is currently awaiting sentencing, where he could face up to ten years in prison. And while his future hangs in the balance, he wants to ensure he can enjoy his potential final moments of freedom, on the outside.
Diddy Files New Motion For Bail Ahead of His Sentencing
Per TMZ, the Bad Boy Records founder has filed a new motion for bail. Despite previously being denied. He claims that the crimes that he has been charged with are not heinous enough for him to be held without bail.
“Diddy’s camp says it’s ridiculous he’s behind bars because he was only convicted of hiring professional male escorts — who were not minors — to have sex with his long-term girlfriend as part of threesomes … they say it was all part of Diddy, Cassie and “Jane” living a swinger lifestyle,” the outlet writes.
“His lawyers say a lot has changed in terms of society’s view on sex since the Mann Act was passed 115 years ago in June 1910 … and they claim Diddy never had sex with the guys he hired, only his ex-girlfriends did.”
To bring things up to speed, Combs was facing life in prison for racketeering charges related to his ex-girlfriend and label artist Cassie. As well as another Jane Doe who testified against him in the trial. He was acquitted of the racketeering charges but was found guilty of the prostitution of the aforementioned parties.
Following the verdict, Diddy filed a motion to receive bail ahead of his October 3 sentencing. But that was denied on the same day as the verdict by Judge Arun Subramanian.
“I’ve read the party’s submissions and others. The jury convicted [Diddy] of Counts 3 and 5. For the following reasons, bail is denied,” the Judge said in the bail hearing following the verdict. According to a transcript from Inner City Press.
The proposed release conditions for Diddy included:
– $1,000,000 bond
– Travel restricted. To the Southern District of Florida. Central District of California. Eastern District of New York and New Jersey.
– Surrendering his passport
– Drug Test (if ordered)
