Diddy and his legal team made several attempts to receive a new trial. Claiming that just because he was a spectator during his now-infamous “freak offs,” he was not guilty of prostitution. But Judge Subramanian would have none of it.
Combs may not be happy about the outcome of his federal trial. But it is just a slap on the wrist compared to how things could have gone. If he had been convicted of racketeering and trafficking, he likely would have have spent the rest of his life in prison.
Combs was one of the more prominent figures in hip-hop. But his legacy dwindled, seemingly in the blink of an eye.
Cassie’s Role in Combs’ Downfall Explained
Cassie, in many ways, is the catalyst for Diddy’s downfall. In November 2023, she filed a civil suit. Alleging that she was a victim of abuse at the hands of Diddy. After she and Combs settled, several other people came forward alleging similar abuse, which triggered the feds’ investigation into him.
Then, in May 2024, a shocking video resurfaced of the Bad Boy Records founder, assaulting his former girlfriend and label artist in a Los Angeles area hotel. During the video, Combs chases Ventura down the corridor of a hotel. He also dragged her by her hair and repeatedly punched and kicked her.
Still, despite an overwhelming amount of evidence against him, it wasn’t enough for him to be charged with a RICO. Now, the next step for Combs is to begin his sentence.
