The hip-hop world is sitting on pins and needles as October 3 quickly approaches. That is the day that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will find out his fate. After being acquitted of racketeering and trafficking charges in his federal case, he was found guilty of prosecution.
Diddy Seeking Acquittal or New Trial
However, despite scoring a major victory with the acquittals, the Bad Boy Records Founder is still looking for ways to evade all of the charges he was facing. A new report from TMZ reveals that Diddy also wants to be acquitted of the prostitution charges. He claims that prosecutors used the wrong definition of what prostitution is in order to convict him.
According to the report, Diddy believes that the feds are defining prostitution as “sex for hire,” but that is the amended version of the definition. And after being found guilty based on the 1910 Mann Act, they should be using the definition that describes the act of prostitution as a woman who has “sex outside of marriage.”
He also notes that the prosecutors never thoroughly proved that the male escorts had sex with his former girlfriends. Instead, he claims the escorts were “paid for their time” and that he was just a “voyeur.”
Combs is demanding either an acquittal or a new trial in light of the discovery.
This is just Combs’ latest attempt at evading accountability for what he has been charged with. He has tried to make bail several times since the verdict in the trial was handed down in May. And each time Judge Arun Submaranian has shut down Diddy’s request.
Needless to say, the chances of Combs receiving an acquittal or new trial in this case seem highly unlikely.
Combs is set to be sentenced for the prostitution charges on October 3. He faces up to ten years in prison.
