The federal trafficking trial of disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is approaching its final stages. And as the jury nears a decision, many speculated that Diddy would take the stand to defend himself. Especially given the mountain of evidence that the prosecution has presented against him.

Diddy Won’t Take The Stand as Verdict Looms Closer

However, according to a new report from USA Today Diddy is not expected to take the stand and testify. According to the outlet the Bad Boy Records founder told the trial Judge, Arun Subramanian that he does not want to testify in the trial.

After listening to Combs’ request in what the outlet says was “one of the only times he spoke during the trial,” Judge Subramanian addressed Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo, the lead defense attorney on his “All-Star” legal team.

Judge Subramanian asked Agnifilo if he had consulted with Combs about his decision to not testify. And Agnifilo said that he and Combs “discussed it at length.” Combs added that the decision to move forward was “solely” his.

Combs also shared further remarks with Judge Subramanian noting that he was feeling “great” and commended the Judge for his fairness throughout the trial. This is despite him nearly being nixed from the courtroom earlier this month after getting caught looking at the jury during testimony.

Many anticipated a potential Diddy testimony because of their curiosity about what other information would come from it. Before his decision to not testify, one of Diddy’s most bitter rivals, Suge Knight said that he expected him to snitch on many of his long-time cohorts.

“He might be stupid sometimes, but he’s not dumb. If they allow Puffy to humanize himself, it’ll be the best thing for the culture of Hip Hop. It’ll be one of the biggest power moves of the US,” Knight said in an interview with former Bad Boy artist Aubrey O’Day

.

“Cut the deal first. Get a situation where whatever you say on the stand, they use it against you. When you get on that stand, fix Hip Hop, fix the culture of our people.”
