After being convicted of interstate prostitution charges in May, Diddy is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence at Fort Dix Correctional Facility. He might be amid one of the darkest periods of his life. But the mogul is still trying to even the score against those who tried to capitalize on his downfall.
Diddy Scores Major Legal Victory Amid Prison Sentence
Diddy has been feverishly trying to serve Courtney Burgess with a $100 lawsuit filing. The suit is against Burgess, his attorney Ariel Mitchell, and NewNation‘s parent company Nexstar Media. After the outlet aired a story he claims never occurred.
So Diddy has been trying to take action against Burgess and NewsNation for months. As he and his team were aggressively trying to serve them. But to no avail. Especially because he was still preparing for his RICO trial.
So, according to AllHipHop, the judge has now granted the Bad Boy Records founder permission to serve them the lawsuit through the Newspaper. However, Combs’ reach will be limited to just three publications: Maryland Daily Record, The Star-Ledger, and The Morning News. These are the newspapers tied to the region where Burgess is likely located.
The suit stems from a Burgess appearing on the news station and claiming that he had 11 flash drives from Diddy’s late ex-girlfriend Kim Porter that housed videos of various celebrities participating in “Freakoffs” involving minors.
Diddy is suing all three parties for defamation, claiming that Burgess’s airing of these false accusations on the network has done irreversible damage to his reputation. So he is now looking to be made whole.
“In this pitiful spectacle, all pretense of objectivity has been abandoned. As a global audience feasts at the all-you-can-eat buffet of wild lies and conspiracy theories. Mitchell and Burgess are among the worst perpetrators in this offensive scenario,” Diddy’s attorneys wrote in the filing.
It will be interesting to see what the outcome is.
