We are now officially in the home stretch of the explosive trial of Bad Boy Records founder, Sean “Diddy” Combs. For those tardy to the party, the disgraced music mogul is accused of spearheading a sex trafficking ring that spanned more than two decades.
Diddy Trial Deliberation Forced to Halt Due to Confused Juror
Jury deliberations began on Monday (June 30). But quickly halted after one of the jurors appeared to be confused by the instructions and rubric being used to come to a consensual verdict. This is according to a recent report from TMZ.
“We have a juror, Juror 25, who we believe cannot follow your honor’s instructions,” the note read according to the outlet.
The foreperson also requested to meet with the judge over the confusion.
Ahead of the jury deliberation, Combs did score a major victory. The prosecution dropped several of the charges that had been brought up against the Making Da Band creator.
The charges of attempted kidnapping, attempted arson, and aiding and abetting sex trafficking were dropped in the case against the music mogul.
According to TMZ, the prosecutors are dropping the aforementioned charges to simplify the process for the jury. They did so with the hopes that the decision in the high-profile trial would be expedited.
Combs became a person of interest to the feds around November 2023. That is when his ex-girlfriend and label artist, Cassie Ventura brought up a civil suit against the music icon. Alleging that she was trafficked for years at his now infamous celebrity parties.
Combs settled with Cassie in a short period of time. But her complaint had a domino effect. Several other of Diddy’s former employees and contemporaries began to allege similar abuse. That launched a federal investigation into Combs.
In September 2024, he was arrested in New York City and was charged with being the mastermind of a sex trafficking ring. If Combs is convicted, he could face life in prison.
