Dawn Richard Says Diddy Claimed He Could Make Her Disappear
Richards was a member of Diddy’s girl group, Danity Kane. The group enjoyed a significant amount of success during its tenure. But Richards says that although working with the music mogul had its perks, it came at a huge expense. Including Diddy threatening death for disobeying his orders.
“He said you could go missing, that we could die. I was shocked but also scared, I couldn’t believe this would be the beginning of a journey for us (with the group Dirty Money),” Richard told jurors during her testimony on May 19.
Richards said that this occurred after a situation involving her and Diddy’s former girlfriend and label artist, Cassie. The incident occurred in 2009, a day after he allegedly attacked the former R&B star with a skillet.
Richards also alleges that the lines became frayed as it related the the business and personal relationships between Combs and Ventura. Friction began to occur between the couple after Cassie’s album kept getting delayed by the record label. Richards said Combs would tell Cassie that he would release her album “on his terms.”
“He said it would be on his terms. It was always wait, wait, wait. She had to wait for her turn, sometimes it was just wait your turn, other times it was violent or volatile,” she added.
Under his Bad Boy Record Label, Danity Kane produced three albums. Danity Kane (2006), Welcome to the Dollhouse (2008), and DK3 (2014). The group also has an EP titled Strawberry Milk, which was released in 2020.
