Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently awaiting his sentence for prostitution charges. As it currently stands, Combs’ sentencing date is scheduled for October 3.
Diddy’s Attorney Confirms They Contacted Trump About Pardon
After being convicted by the jury in July, Combs will face up to ten years in prison. But his dream team of attorneys has shown that even in defeat, they are not going to go down silently.
On Tuesday, August 5th, Nicole Westmoreland, one of Diddy’s attorneys, confirmed what many have been speculating. That Diddy’s legal team has, in fact, reached out to United States President Donald Trump about a presidential pardon.
“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” Westmoreland said.
Many had speculated that Diddy and his team had been in contact with the White House about a potential pardon. Especially after famed crimelord Larry Hoover had his sentence commuted earlier this year. But amid questions about a pardon for Diddy, Trump referenced some disparaging comments that the Bad Boy Records founder made about him during his presidential campaign.
And for that, Trump says it will be “more difficult” to grant the music mogul a pardon.
“I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile,” he said.
Regardless of the outcome during his October 3 sentencing, Diddy should consider himself a lucky man. When the feds swooped him up in New York City last September, he was facing trafficking and racketeering charges. Authorities alleged that the sexual escapades that occurred at his celebrity parties, also known as “freak offs,” fit the mold for a criminal organization.
Combs was acquitted of racketeering and trafficking. Which means, regardless of what happens, he won’t spend the rest of his life in prison. Which is a win in itself.
