Hot 97 mainstay DJ Enuff — a fixture at the station for nearly 30 years — was abruptly let go yesterday, and he’s convinced Funkmaster Flex had a hand in it.
TMZ Hip Hop first reported that Flex sent shockwaves through NYC with a cryptic “retirement” tease that had even 50 Cent and Jadakiss reacting — only for it to be revealed as a time-slot shuffle. In the shakeup, another veteran, DJ Camilo, saw his role reduced to just a single hour on-air, adding to what feels like a sudden and sweeping reset at the station.
Enuff admits he doesn’t have solid proof, but says he feels in his gut that Flex pulled strings behind the scenes — rumors point to a heated meltdown. The longtime colleagues haven’t spoken since the announcement, though Enuff says he’ll eventually reach out after returning from his Puerto Rican getaway, insisting he’ll be the “bigger man.”
While he remains grateful to Flex for originally bringing him to Hot 97, Enuff suggests their next conversation won’t be a trip down memory lane.
DJ Enuff tells TMZ he believes Funkmaster Flex went behind his back and got him fired from Hot 97 to take his timeslot:
