Donald Glover isn’t closing the door on a Childish Gambino return just yet. Although he previously said his last album would be 2024’s Bando Stone & The Brave New World, the creative renaissance artist opened the door for a return recently, if he feels inspired.
What Made Donald Glover Consider Making Music Again?
At the Japanese premiere of the new Super Mario Bros. Galaxy Movie, Glover was asked by Entertainment Tonight about hanging up the mic.
““I still really love making music,” Glover said. “I don’t think that’s ever going to go away. I love making it. Even if that’s for myself.”
When pressed about holding out, Glover teased he would share his music with the public…if it’s good enough.
“If I can make something that I’m like, ‘Oh, people should hear this,’ I definitely will put it out.”
What Is Donald Glover Doing Instead Of Music?
The Atlanta creator has been busy with Hollywood, taking a supporting role as Yoshi in the new Super Mario movie. He also serves as an executive producer on Amazon’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
There are rumors he will turn his latest album, Bando Stone & The Brave New World, into a film, but no update has been given.
Bando Stone & The Brave New World found commercial success, peaking at No.2 on Billboard’s US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. The album also received a Grammy nomination in 2025 for Best Progressive R&B Album. Glover has received five Grammys, four for 2018’s “This Is America,” and 14 nominations.
