Drake was placed on Forbes Top 5 wealthiest artist in Hip-Hop behind long time veteran moguls; Birdman, Jay Z, Dr Dre, & Diddy. The Summer Sixteen Tour generated $64.6 million in revenue. Drake hosted and was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live in 2016. His song “One Dance” became Spotify’s most-streamed song ever with over 1 billion plays. Drake was nominated for 10 BET Hip-Hop Awards & 13 American Music Awards in 2016. In 2016 Drake was streamed on Spotify alone 4.7 billion times. How could we not give Drake 2016’s artist of the year?
