On Saturday Drake set the Hip Hop world ablaze with the supposed “leak” of his long-rumored diss record Push Ups (Drop and Give Me 50) aimed at Kenrick Lamar and a cadre of other rappers that have directly and indirectly dissed the 6 God in recent weeks. Initially, many fans and publications falsely attributed Drizzy’s vocals on the track to AI but astute observers and insiders (DJ Akademiks, Elliot Wilson) quickly dispelled the rumors and confirmed that the record was indeed authentic.
Hours later, a different version of the track was released to YouTube with slightly altered lyrics and production. Reaction to the song was swift and many pundits observed that the song is the first of many to come. We’ll have our first-round score soon…..
