Drake Gifts OVO Chain to DJ Akademiks
Before he officially dropped his album on Friday (May 15), Drake showed major love to one of his biggest supporters in hip-hop media. That being said, the media personality, DJ Akademiks. Akademiks and Drizzy linked up in person for the first time. At album listening in the rapper’s hometown of Toronto, Canada.
And Drizzy blessed Akademiks in a major way during their link-up. Drake gifted the media personality with his very own OVO chain. A gesture to thank him for his continued support. Even when it wasn’t popular to do so. They also snapped up a pic to commemorate the moment.

The photo obviously went viral, which led to several reactions from fans on social media.
“Bout time. I can’t lie, I’m happy bro finally met this n***a how much he wave that OVO flag for Drake,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I told y’all Akademiks been on a generational run lmao now Drake gifted him the OVO chain it’s over for Joe Budden,” a second user added.
“I’m actually so happy for bro, Drake really owes Ak a lot of gratitude for holding him down the last 2 years,” a third user chimed in.
Akademiks was one of the few supporters to stand behind Drake when seemingly the entire industry sided with Kendrick Lamar during their 2024 rap feud. So, of course, Drake had to show Ak some love ahead of his album release.
