In the fallout of his beef with Kendrick Lamar, Drake music has been criticized heavily by several artists. But if you think that people’s criticisms of his artistry are getting under his skin, guess again.
Drake Brushes Off His Music Critics
As one of the executive producers of the Magic City documentary, Drake is often on camera, giving his insight about the history of the famed gentleman’s club. During the episode that dropped on Friday (September 12), Drake said that he makes music for the dancers at those types of clubs. He also added that it is part of the reason that he doesn’t really put stock into what other artists think about his music.
“I make my music for those girls,” he said during the episode via @almightee on social media. “I care so little about, you know, another artist that someone might respect not liking my music, I don’t give a f**k. I think, maybe that’s why I’ve been here so long. Probably because I only care about them.”
Fans in the comments section of the social media post had a lot to say about Drake’s remarks.
“This makes sense why so many guys hate him. They want his music to be about them. They want him to sing to them,” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I have always said if the girls like a man’s music, he definitely makes good music,” another user added.
“It’s obviously a successful money glitch at this point. Why stop now?” another person pointed out.
Drake is set to release his upcoming album, Iceman, before the end of the year. It will be his first solo studio album since he released For All The Dogs in 2023. And it will also be his first solo project since his rap feud with Kendrick Lamar. The pressure is on for Drake to deliver another classic. It will be interesting to see if he does.
