Tory Lanez had become one of the hottest artists out. However, an unfortunate 2020 incident landed him in jail for 10 years. For those unaware, Lanez is currently incarcerated for shooting Grammy-winner Meg Thee Stallion in the foot.

Drake Advocates For Tory Lanez’s Freedom
However, amid new evidence, it appears that Lanez may be innocent. New testimony from an eyewitness confirms that it was not the shooter on the night in question. Amid this new evidence, fellow Toronto artist Drake shared a petition on social media on Friday, May 16, advocating for Lanez to be pardoned.
Lanez and Megan weren’t the only people in the vicinity on the night of the shooting. So was Kelsey Harris. Meg’s former best friend. According to new testimony from Harris’ bodyguard Bradley James, Kelsey was the shooter, not Tory.
Per Lanez’s Attorney, Walter Roberts (via DJ Akademiks): “[Harris] fired at [Megan] three times. Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and knocked it down, and the gun fired two more times. In essence, Mr. Peterson never shot anybody. Never even touched that gun. He never fired the gun. This statement aligns with the statement of the only non-party witness to the case, Mr. Sean Kelly, who at trial testified he saw two women fighting… There were three potential suspects in the car that night. And yet the only DNA sample was taken of Mr. Peterson, even though unknown DNA was found on the gun.”
Following this new discovery, several members of the hip-hop community have shown an outpouring of support for Tory.
Canadian artist Top5 took to social media on May 16 to share a conversation between him and West. In the text message, West asks Top5 how he can help Tory get out of prison.
“What can I do about Tory?” Kanye West asked concerning Tory Lanez.
It will be interesting to see if Lanez does get pardoned or served out the rest of his term.
