Earl Sweatshirt rarely gets involved in drama but it looks like one outspoken rapper has dragged him into some. On Friday (May 1st) Sweatshirt clapped back at JPEGMAFIA after Peggy made some disparaging comments during an interview with Pigeons & Planes.

What did Earl Sweatshirt And JPEGMAFIA Say?

When talking about his place in rap, JPEGMAFIA asserted he’s the most experimental rapper, while also taking shots at other artists.

“Other people in this genre, they want to pretend and try to be cool and be like, ‘I don’t want to be experimental rap, I want to be something else, I want to fucking rap like Lucki, I want to make songs that the young people make,” Peggy told P&P. “I don’t really need to do that. I can just be myself, and I let other people try to figure out who they are at 40 or whatever.”

While Peggy didn’t name Earl by name this time, it was enough to finally warrant a response. Commenting under P&P’s post on Instagram, Earl posted several laughing face emojis before making his thoughts known.

“Nobody copies cuh because his music is gnarled rough and ugly (derogatory),” Sweatshirt said. “Lmao leave me alone pls I make music with my friends that I have (derogatory).”

In a now deleted comment, Peggy clapped back.

“1st off n**** your career is gnarled and rough, you the first n**** since Joe Budden to go back underground literally,” Peggy commented. “2nd stop saying ‘cuh’ your 32 and you went to boarding school. 3rd neither you nor your friends would ever say none of this to my face. But thank you for the promo little guy.”

Sweatshirt immediately retorted, clowning Peggy for his style.

“You know what bro my fault I misspoke,” Sweatshirt replied. “Bro is the king of making crunchy ass music and wearing muay thai shorts, super excited for the album brother (positive) seems like its gonna be really experimental. I fw the new leather vibe 2 twin s*** hard.”

Earl continued his response, trolling on his Instagram story.

“Y’all make sure y’all go stream that Experimental Rap Songs,” Sweatshirt posted. “Gotta give credit where its due bro learned great rollout technique from King Troll himself and the US armed forces. Happy to support another black mans hard work. You go glen coco.”

Peggy has not responded to this troll at this time.

How Did This Beef Start?

The origins of JPEGMAFIA vs. Earl Sweatshirt trace back to last year when Peggy called out Earl by name, accusing him of laziness in music.

“”I am a risk-taker, I’m one of the only risk-takers in rap!” Peggy told Billboard. “The rest of these m******** literally do the same thing. Alchemist, Earl and them? They’ve been making the same f****** song for the last twenty f****** years. Nobody gives a s***. I’m not them, I’m here to evolve, go farther, go harder and I’m gonna do my s***. I’m not here to give people the bare minimum and have that just be okay, n****. That’s not me. I’m not wasting my potential like those m*********.

Initially, Earl didn’t respond, but Peggy’s latest comments combined with his past comments seemed to have annoyed the usually chill rapper.
