As of today, Eminem has officially crossed another sales milestone, with a slew of new RIAA awards giving him over 100 million certified units in sales and sales equivalent units derived from streams.
With a set of digital single certifications issued earlier today, Eminem now has 107.5 million certified units, to become the second-most successful singles act in RIAA history. Eminem reached this career milestone with new certifications for fan favorites like “Kill You” and “Stan,” as well as fresh multi-platinum nods for previously awarded singles including “Without Me” and “The Real Slim Shady.”
Most of the Eminem songs included in this latest batch of RIAA certifications have never before received a gold or platinum status. A number of these songs were never officially released as singles. Listeners’ digital consumption in the form of streams and paid downloads have qualified these non-single tracks as singles. Organizations like the RIAA and Billboard have granted increased weighting to streaming to their methodologies in recent years.
Only one artist has more certified units to date than Eminem in the digital singles realm. Rihanna tops the RIAA category with 121 million units, inclusive of Eminem’s now 12x multi-platinum “Love The Way You Lie.” Eminem can still claim the title of rap’s top-selling singles artist, with Drake currently a distant second with 55 million units and Kanye West in third place with 51.5 to his credit.
