JID and Eminem are back at it again with their new collab “Animals (Pt. 1),” the gritty finale to JID’s surprise EP GDLU (Preluxe).
The track is a bar-heavy display of lyrical warfare, with both emcees flexing razor-sharp flows and punchy metaphors. JID kicks things off with his signature spitfire delivery, but it’s Eminem’s verse that’s making headlines—and for good reason.
Eminem wastes no time dropping quotables, referencing 50 Cent’s 2005 diss track “Piggy Bank” and crowning himself “the Dave Chappelle of the rap game,” leaning into his signature style of comedic aggression. But things escalate when Em takes a direct jab at Ye, referencing a controversial revelation the Chicago artist made earlier this year.
“With these magazines, I act out like Ye and his cousin / Little c–ksucker, I’m sprayin’ and bustin’ / Your s–t sucks d–k, stop sayin’ it doesn’t / That’s probably the reason there’s nothin’ you’ve bodied of recent,” Em raps, directly referencing Ye’s viral “Cousins” track from April.
On that song, Kanye opened up about a disturbing memory involving sexual experimentation with a male cousin when they were kids. In a follow-up post to X, Ye explained:
“This song is called COUSIN about my cousin that’s locked in jail for life for killing a pregnant lady a few years after I told him we wouldn’t ‘look at dirty magazines together’ anymore. Perhaps in my self centered mess I felt it was my fault that I showed him those dirty magazines when he was 6 and then we acted out what we saw.”
As of now, Kanye hasn’t responded—but knowing Ye, a clapback could be just a post away.
