Erica Banks just found herself in some serious turbulence before even boarding her flight. The “Buss It” rapper and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday (Aug. 6) after TSA agents allegedly found a stolen gun in her carry-on.

According to reports, Banks — real name Erica Scharmane Breaux — was headed to Houston when TSA flagged her Louis Vuitton purse during screening. Inside, officials say they uncovered a black-and-gray Smith & Wesson that had been reported stolen all the way back in 2018 in Greenville, South Carolina.
Banks told police she didn’t know the gun was there and claimed it belonged to her security, though she didn’t give a name. Breaux was taken into custody and charged with theft by receiving stolen property, a felony under Georgia law.
She’s now lawyered up with “The Fly Lawyer” Jackie Patterson, who insists she’s innocent. “She had no idea it was stolen,” Patterson told WSB-TV 2 Atlanta. “We plan to get these charges dismissed.”
The Dallas native has been lighting up Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta since Season 11 and dropped her latest project, Cocky on Purpose 2, in 2024 — but this time, all eyes are on her for a whole different reason.
