Legends in their respective crafts, Erykah Badu and Alchemist are locking in together for a new album. The Award-winning R&B singer and virtuoso producer teased their collab with a new single “Witch Doctor.”
The new project, Sorry We Don’t Have An Album Title Yet, is the first tape Badu has made in eleven years. Meanwhile, The Alchemist has stayed busy, most recently dropping Alfredo 2 with Freddie Gibbs, and many singles.
According to a press release, the collaboration births from a conversation Badu had with longtime creative partner Cold Cris about wanting to rap over Mobb Deep’s “The Realest,” which Alchemist produced. That discussion reached him and he was fully down with working with a legend like Badu. The duo’s first studio session yielded the previously released “Next to You”, laying the foundation for the genesis of the album.
Work on the album began soon after and they previewed songs at phone free shows over the past two years. The duo are expected to go on tour this fall.
