Erykah Badu took to Instagram to pay tribute to legendary audio engineer Bob Power following news of his passing.
In a heartfelt post, Badu shared a video vibing to her song “Next Lifetime” while reflecting on Power’s impact on her career and the broader music community. The influential engineer played a key role in shaping the sound of Badu’s classic debut album Baduizm.
“What a great loss for the music community today,” Badu wrote. “The great engineer, producer, mentor and friend @bobpower has traveled on. I/we appreciate you. You taught me soo much.”
She also praised his signature mixing style, highlighting the deep bass sound he helped craft on the album. “Baduizm is thee most bass heavy singing album in history. You mixed like a TRIBE album!” she added, referencing the sound associated with A Tribe Called Quest.
