Hip hop fans online are buzzing after the estate of Rich Homie Quan released a new AI-generated music video for his posthumous track “Still Dead,” dropping Friday (May 22).
The visual shows a digital version of the Atlanta rapper, who died in 2024, moving through a cemetery, appearing in the studio, and spending time with his children. The song itself is inspired by PnB Rock’s 2022 death, but the AI recreation has quickly become the bigger talking point.
Some viewers called the video “creepy” and “disgusting,” with others saying it felt uncomfortable seeing a lifelike version of Rich Homie Quan in new scenes after his passing. Others defended the release, noting it could help support his family if the estate is approved: “As long as his kids are getting taken care of, it’s ok,” one fan wrote.
The reaction underscores a growing debate around AI in music, especially with respect to the legends who have passed on.
Since his death in September 2024 from an accidental overdose, Rich Homie Quan has had multiple posthumous releases, including Forever Going In (2024) and Legacy of Hits (2025).
