Fans React to Xzibit Dropping His FIrst Album in 25 Years

Videos by According2HipHop

If you are a younger hip-hop fan, you most likely only know Xzibit for his role as host of MTV’s classic show Pimp My Ride. But the OGs know X as one of the coldest rap stars of his time.

Xzibit is the latest rap legend to break out of his retirement. His last album, Restless dropped in 2000. But recently he announced an upcoming album titled, Kingmaker.

Following the announcement of X’s first album in 25 years fans weighed in with their reactions on social media.

“I fw Xzibit and I know it’s been a minute, but 20 tracks in ‘25 seems like a vault dump. Why not make it two releases, 10 tracks a piece?” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Has potential to be West Coast classic,” another person added.

The name of the first track on the project is, “Play This at My Funeral.” And although the title may seem morbid, Xzibit says the song has nothing to do with him dying.

“It is a morbid title but I think ‘Play This At My Funeral’ has nothing to do with me dying. This is a snapshot of where I am mentally, physically, emotionally,” he said.

“Some finite statements are made in there. I think it’s really dope to be able to come back and show people where I am, what I’ve been doing, what I’ve done, so it answers a lot of questions.”

The project is set to drop on May 16.
