Fat Joe has become a fixture at New York Knicks games. And it is well known in the NBA that Knicks fans have the best traveling fan base in the league. They are known to pack out the arenas during Knicks road games.
Fat Joe Says Cavs Officials Banned Him From Courtside
So, of course, Joe made the trip to Cleveland for the Knicks’ playoff matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Joe purchased courtside tickets to watch his hometown team in the Eastern Conference Finals. However, during a recent appearance on NBA Today, the Bronx native revealed that once the powers that be found out he was the one who purchased the tickets, they did the unthinkable. And banned him from sitting courtside.
“We had bought some courtside tickets to the game, and once they found out it was superfan Fat Joe, they were like, I can’t sit courtside. New York Knicks fans can’t sit courtside,” he said, as caught by Bleacher Report. “They took the tickets away courtside after we purchased them, so shame on you all.”
However, banning the rapper from courtside did not seem to impact the result of the game at all. The Knicks blew out the Cavaliers in Games three and four and swept their way to their first NBA Finals berth since 1999.
Now the Knicks await the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder are now up 3-2 in that series. And New York has clinched a playoff berth 10 days before the Finals start. So they will already have an advantage when the series kicks off on June 3
