Feds Say Lil Durk Has Threatened Potential Witnesses in Upcoming Case

Durk recently tried to get his case dismissed. After the lyrics from his song “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy” were deemed inadmissible. But in response to Durk’s motion, AUSA Bilal Essayli insists the lyrics to Durk’s music are just a small part of a bigger picture. That he executed a “brazen murder plot.”

“[Lil Durk] is not on trial for his lyrics or his music; he is on trial because he directed, orchestrated, and financed the brazen murder plot at issue in this case,” Essayli wrote in the new filing per AllHipHop.

Before the lyrics to “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy” were deemed inadmissible, Durk’s family also ripped the government’s decision to use his lyrics as evidence is just the latest case of another rapper’s “creativity” being “criminalized”.

“Durk has always used music to tell stories, to express pain to heal,” his family said in a reel posted to Durk’s Instagram page on April 29

“And yet those same lyrics are now being used against him. We refuse to stay silent as Black artists continue to be criminalized for their creativity. Rap is art.”

Durk could also be in even hotter water than previously thought. Essayli goes on to reveal that the rap star has also threatened potential witnesses in the case. Which is also a felony.

“The motion fails to cite any legitimate basis to dismiss the indictment or unseal grand jury transcripts, particularly in this murder case where witnesses and their family members have already been threatened,” Essayli added.

Lil Durk’s case is scheduled to begin in October 2025.
