It is not exactly clear when Drake’s feud with Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky began. Whether it was when Rocky rekindled his flame with Drake’s ex-girlfriend Rihanna.Or when Kendrick declared himself hip-hop’s top dog (no pun intended). But one thing is for sure: the feud is very real.
FERG Gets Honest on Drake, A$AP Rocky & Kendrick Lamar’s Feud
During a recent appearance on the Bootleg Kev Podcast, former A$AP Mob member, Ferg, dished on why things went sour between the rap artists even though they were once close cohorts.
He feels that in the industry — and life, it is “natural” for people to outgrow each other.
“I feel like that’s kinda natural, though,” Ferg started. “Because even when you think about the family dynamic. And little brother and big brother things. A lot of time, the little brother wants to grow up and prove themselves and not be under the wing of the big brother.”
He also noted that part of the growing process is turning into a different individual. So the Drake, K. Dot, and Rocky that were at one point close with each other have all morphed into different versions of themselves.
“That happens a lot,” FERG added. “People grow into individuals. A lot of the time, where we start is not really who we are. We are still growing into the person we are. So, the K-Dot that was on tour, the Drake that was on tour, the Rocky that was on tour, the FERG that was on tour, is not the same person. We were still learning ourselves.”
The 2024 feud between Kendrick and Drake is one that continues to have a long-term effect on the rap industry. However, we have seen long-term feuds like Lucci & Young Thug, Jeezy & Gucci Mane, and 50 Cent & Fat Joe ultimately come to an end. It will be interesting to see if these artists hash things out in the future.
