Sean Diddy Combs continues to serve out his sentence at Fort Dix FCI. But even after being convicted in a court of law. Many believe that he could be a free man sooner than expected.
Ex Diddy Attorney Sees ‘Potential’ For Early Release
Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in prison back in October of this year. However, he has fought tooth and nail to regain his freedom. And while things may look grim right now for the Bad Boy Records founder, his former lawyer, Mark Geragos, believes there is real “potential” for him to be released soon.
“I think there’s a potential there,” he said during a recent appearance on News Nation. “Remember, when he was convicted of these two Mann Act violations… He won against the counts that carried a mandatory life sentence and would have basically forfeited his entire fortune.”
Geragos also went on to say that he felt that Diddy’s conviction was “fundamentally unfair,” noting that his sentence was “enhanced” based on the “very conduct he was acquitted of.”
Diddy’s former attorney also added that he felt the prosecution should face consequences for “overcharging” the music mogul.
“So he rolled the dice and won, and then he was enhanced in his sentence by the very conduct he was acquitted of. I think that’s fundamentally unfair,” he said. “In fact, if we want to talk about fairness, I think the prosecution should be penalized for overcharging him in the first place, and he should have been immediately released. That’s just me. I have great affection, and I think that’s just the result.”
To bring things up to speed, Combs was swept up by the feds in September 2024. When he was initially arraigned, he was facing charges of racketeering and trafficking in addition to prostitution. Fortunately for Diddy, he was only charged with prostitution, evading the two more serious charges that carried a heavier sentence.
