Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair was released just in time for the holidays. After serving a brief sentence at FCI Fort Dix.
Sebastian Telfair Gives Update on Diddy
You may have heard of FCI Fort Dix. The same prison where disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently serving out his 50-month prison sentence. Following his release from the institution, Telfair gave an update on the Bad Boy Records founder.
“Diddy’s holding it down. He’s doing what he gotta do. And where he’s at, they are going to help him,” Telfair said following his release. The former Portland Trailblazers guard also noted that Combs is in “good spirits,” adding: “He’s doing good. Diddy’s gonna be Diddy.”
You may be wondering how Telfair landed himself in prison. After all, he was perhaps the most highly touted basketball star out of New York City. Telfair was a part of a ring of NBA players that defrauded the league by receiving reimbursements for medical services that they never received. Telfair was a part of that scheme. And was found guilty of receiving more than $358,000 in reimbursement.
What is even more bizarre about this story is that Telfair received a pretty sweet deal, given the nature of his crimes. He got time served and three and a half years on supervised release.
However, the former Portland Trail Blazers point guard violated the terms of his release. Including a failure to report for community service. As a result, Telfair was sentenced to serve six months in Fort Dix.
Combs, on the other hand, was convicted of federal prostitution charges in May. And in October, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison. However, the music mogul is still fighting mercilessly to be released from federal custody. As it currently stands, Combs is set to be released from prison in June 2028.
