ILoveMakonnen has the internet talking once again—but not for new music.

The former OVO Sound artist, best known for his 2014 hit “Tuesday,” was spotted working in a restaurant this week, and social media is eating it up. Videos of the 36-year-old Atlanta native behind the grill surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, showing him posted up in the kitchen while customers ate in the background.

“You need me to come guest chef at your motherf***ing spot? Holla at me. Let me know which city I’m coming through,” Makonnen said in one of the viral clips. “We got the smash burgers going off tonight. I’m tired already though. But I love cooking for the people.”

Of course, fans had jokes—pointing out the irony of the man who had us all “going up on a Tuesday” now literally clocking in for a Tuesday shift. But others defended him, saying he’s simply living life on his own terms.

Makonnen previously announced he was retiring the iLoveMakonnen name last year, telling fans: “Thank you all for ur support and interests over the years. It’s time I go move on and go live my life. Heavy in the streets is my last song.” Still, he left the door open for a return down the road, possibly under a different name.

The rapper has also been open about the pressure that came with his early success. “It was just a lot to experience all in real time, and then I got introduced to LSD and psychedelics,” he explained. “Now I’m going on these whole internal journeys, as well as this whole physical new journey. And I’m dealing with, what they considered overweight, and not attractive, all this and that.”

This isn’t the first time he’s stepped back from music—back in 2016, Makonnen declared he was done with rap, calling the game “wack” and saying the industry needed more artists who were willing to be themselves.

Whether he’s in the booth or behind the grill, one thing’s for sure: Makonnen is gonna do him. And judging by the way the internet is running with these clips, fans are still here for it.
