Jaheim Facing Animal Cruelty Charges Again
The former R&B star behind several classic hits such as Put That Woman First and Finding My Way Back was arrested on May 1. He is under investigation for six counts of animal cruelty. In Metro Atlanta, according to a May 27 report from WSBTV.
Following the news, fans on social media went OFF on Jaheim.
“I knew I had seen him in the media for this before. Lock his asz up…he ain’t Learned nothing,” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Now he has more to sing about,” another user added.
Per Complex, among the charges Jaheim is facing are not providing his dogs with adequate water. Leaving them in unsanitary conditions and having insufficient ventilation. The former R&B star housed six dogs in his Fulton County residence. Four pitbull terriers, a French bulldog, and a hound mix-breed.
Under Georgia Law, first-time animal cruelty offenders are subject to a punishment of up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
However, this is also not the first time that Jaheim has been charged with such a crime.
In 2022, the Ain’t Leaving Without You creator was charged with a similar crime in New Jersey. He was alleged to have left his 15 dogs malnourished, and one was found unresponsive to the point that it had to be euthanized.
The remaining dogs which included 12 mixed-breed pit bull terriers, two American Staffordshire terriers, and a mixed-breed boxer were recovered and put up for adoption.
As a second-time offender, Jaheim could be subject to a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature, with potentially higher penalties.
The former R&B star has yet to comment about the charges that he is facing.
