The vibe in New York is up after the New York Knicks took down the San Antonio Spurs to win their first NBA Championship in 50+ years. That energy is apparently hitting New York native French Montana, who wants to help a member of the community affected by some Knicks fans who got too lost in the sauce.
What Did French Montana Do?
The video depicts a New York city cab driver, who gets caught in the streets as rowdy Knicks fans celebrate. He tries to get fans to calm down as they jump on his cab, causing major damage to the car. The driver pleads that it’ll come out of his paycheck as the fans cause further harm to the car.
The video has received millions of views, getting comments from several notable people reflecting on the circumstance. One such person is New York rapper French Montana, who felt altruistic after seeing the video.
“Somebody find him for me so we can help him get back on his feet,” French Montana posted.
Currently Montana, and other celebrities are trying to find the cabbie to help him.

What Else Happened With The Situation?
In a lengthy statement, the New York Taxi Union condemned the fans for their behavior toward their union member.
“He was pulled out of the cab and suffered shock and physical injury to his arm, back and head,” the Union posted. “The whole city is elated about our hometown team — and that includes drivers who watched the game last night at airport lots while waiting for the next fare, listened on their radios while cruising for the next job, and huddled at hotel lines with the same heart-stopping anxiety that turned into the most beautiful joy.”
The statement continued.
“Pulling the cab driver out of his seat, stomping on and shattering his hood turned our joy into a nightmare. When you see the yellow, do you not see the person behind the wheel? That’s someone’s spouse, child, parent or friend — a New Yorker. He wasn’t out there for joy, he worked to make ends meet, getting his fellow New Yorkers home safely. Cabbies pay just to go to work. They pay for their cars — whether through loans or leases. Drivers need safety on the job, both in the quiet moments of ordinary days and in the middle of celebration. Shame on anyone who turns these joyful moments into nightmares for fellow New Yorkers.”
The video has been met with major criticism. It’s unfortunately casted a dark mark on a beautiful moment for the city of New York. French Montana and others are clearly trying to help make the situation right.
